Many people are unaware of what a carat actually is. Now we’re not talking about carrots, the main diet for one of our most loved cartoon characters Bugs Bunny. No, we are actually talking about diamond carat weight, which determines along with a few other characteristics how valuable a diamond is. The term carat, when talking about diamonds and all other precious stones refers to the weight only, the size of the stone has no influence on how many carats there are. Although obviously the bigger the diamond the chances are that it will be more valuable.
